The film introduces viewers to two puppeteers, a puppet master who has worked with puppets for over 38 years and a young female newcomer to the organization. As the master reflects on his long career and the new comer looks to the future, the fate of puppeteering seems to lie in the balance.
Will this ancient art form survive in a modernized China? What can be done to make puppeteering relevant to a new generation of people worldwide?Related StoriesMy love – Li sisterWeaving HainanPortraits for you – the life of Xibe ethnic groupSongs from KansuSichuan operaPhotosNostalgic Ghost now on Beijing stageTourists visit lantern fair in XianZhengzhou folk artist creates exquisite gourd carvingsGlobetrotting senior Chinese draws journey67th Berlinale International Film Festival opens in GermanyOutdoor Shanghai museum brings Chinese and European styles togetherTop ViewsMost PopularChinese-style origins give vitality to domestic animationShinkai-style delights Chinese movie goersMade for China: Having it both waysProducer who kowtows for screeningsRacism comes out in the washBox office demands out of the boxEditors picksWhere to spend the Lantern Festival in BeijingTen memorable Super Bowl halftime showsVideoLang Lang returns to original recording labelGaming sector most vibrant in new entertainment sceneWorld leaders greetings for Chinese New YearSpecialCultural year-enders of 2016The 3rd Franco-Chinese Month of the EnvironmentBACK TO THE TOPHOMECHINAWORLDBUSINESSLIFESTYLECULTURETRAVELWATCHTHISSPORTSOPINIONREGIONALFORUMNEWSPAPERChina Daily PDFChina Daily E-paperMOBILECopyright 1995 -var oTime = new Date();
